Absinthe, Wormwood plant

Categories: ,

Absinthe (Wormwood) is a perennial herbaceous plant up to 1 meter high, it grows almost everywhere.

You can use it as an infusion alone or with green tea, or in absinthe wine or absinthe beer to reduce the bitterness. In the kitchen, absinthe goes well with fatty meats such as goose or pork, which it helps digest. For dessert, associated with white chocolate, it is very interesting.

Absinthe (Wormwood) is vermifuge, stomachic, emmenagogue and cholagogue. The flowering tops are used to make herbal tea. It is used in liquid manure to repel insects such as aphids and other flies. In the house, you can make dry bouquets to keep mosquitoes and flies away.

Absinthe (Wormwood) does not require any special handling conditions, a draining or even dry and sunny soil will suffice. It resists very low temperatures and droughts of several weeks. Once established, wormwood requires no special care, except for severe pruning after flowering.

Do not hesitate to cut the absinthe very short to give it a nice shape.
